Steve Jess became a Commercial Photographer shortly after he finished his Photography and Digital Imaging diplomas in 1996-97 getting hired on a freelance basis by event companies and editorial publications.
In 2000, Steve became part of the prepress team at the Chronicle Herald and Mail Star of that time. While honing his desktop publishing and Photoshop skills at The Chronicle Herald, Steve kept his photography skills and passion alive by photographing such clients like the QEII Foundation and Vintage Guitar Magazine. Steve kept photographically busy with yearly guitar calendars and fundraising events that QE2 Foundation needed documenting all while working full time as a Prepress Technician at the newspaper.
After finishing at the Chronicle Herald in 2011, Steve continued into a full time role with Steve Jess Photography and In September and October of 2014 Steve Jess Photography had front cover images on Halifax Magazine for "Fashion Force" and Andre Livingston's photo of "Andre the Giant". East Coast Living and Steve Jess Photography placed second ( silver ) at the 2015 Atlantic Journalism Awards for the front cover of a historic Brunswick st. house that has been restored Inside and out. The Front cover featured the owner in front of the restored house with his Great Danes at dusk..
Most recently Steve Jess Photography has been consistently photographing for ReFined Magazine and the commercial clients that advertise inside this magazine.
